Brian MacDonald is the exclusive artist for Midnight In Nowhere. If you hear it on the program, it was written and/or recorded by Brian MacDonald. In fact, the name of the program comes from the title track of his first CD, “Midnight In Nowhere.”
When Lou Kelly was developing the idea for the show, he called his friend, Brian MacDonald. In a long conversation with Brian, Lou recalls, “I was talking to Brian about the show. I wanted a talk show aimed at people who were going through changes with a little bit of music brought in when the time was right. I was going to call it ‘The Lonely Hearts Club’ and I was going to play music from all different artists. ‘Only The Lonely’ by Roy Orbison, ‘She Cried’ by Jay and the Americans, stuff like that. As the conversation went on, I thought about having Brian record those songs. Then I thought, why have him record those songs when he already had a stable of original songs already written and recorded? And along those lines, why not make him the exclusive artist? So, one thing led to another and before you knew it, we were calling the show “Midnight In Nowhere.” |
A professional musician for over 30 years, Brian has made his mark on the music industry. He is a gifted songwriter and a talented guitarist but his most salient quality is his extraordinary voice. From playing local clubs to writing and recording in Nashville, Brian has done it all.
Brian's music is sprinkled throughout the show at appropriate times. A sleepless caller who was dreaming about her ex-husband might inspire “Dream Lover.” A man that has been beaten down and expects only the worst that can happen to be the best he can get might trigger “My Old Friend The Blues.” A caller that has finally accepted the changes that separated he and his wife might give rise to “She’s Got Her Own Life Now.”
It’s the music of Brian MacDonald that ties it all together and completes the program. Brian's music is just one of the nuances that makes Midnight In Nowhere unlike anything else on the radio.
